
Saints Split DH at South Georgia
Santa Fe Traveled to Douglas, Georgia for two games against South Georgia State College on Wednesday afternoon.

Douglas, GA
The Saints used late-game offense to knock off South Georgia 4-3 in game one of two on Wednesday afternoon. Javier Soto singled in the top of the seventh to drive in the game's winning run. The Saints scored two runs early in game one, coming from a Soto double and a Rex Smith sacrifice fly, both in the top of the first inning. In the bottom of the first inning, South Georgia tied the ball game up with a two-run homerun. South Georgia then scratched another across in the bottom of the third inning for their first lead of the game. In the top of the sixth inning, Zack Dejesus grounded out but drove in a run from third to tie the game up at three apiece. In the seventh, it was the top of the order getting on base for the Soto game-winning RBI.
Lucas Johns got his second start of the season, going 4.0 innings allowing all three runs to South Georgia. Ben Monger took over in the fifth inning and went the distance. Monger picked up his first win of the season allowing two hits and striking out three. Soto headlined the lineup from the three-hole going 2-3, scoring a run, and driving two in. Griffin Sorrow scored two runs and reached in all four plate appears going 1-1 with three walks.
In game two the Saints jumped out in front early again, but could not hold on to a lead in the second and third innings. A two-run top of the first for SF held until a South Georgia scored two of their own in the second inning. The Saints broke the tie in the top of the third inning with a Soto homerun and then two batters later a Zack Dejesus solo homerun. The lead was gone in a hurry as South Georgia put up a five spot in the bottom of the third to take a 7-4 lead. The Saints battled back, but couldn't complete the comeback down the stretch.
SF went with Kolten Leach on the mound to start. Leach went 2.2 innings allowing seven hits and seven runs. Stephen Joyce took over in the third and went 3.1 scoreless innings allowing just one hit.
Aiden Andreu and Ryan Chase both had a multi-hit game while driving in a run in the loss. Soto and Dejesus both had solo homeruns.
The Saints come back home on Saturday afternoon to take on South Florida State College at noon and 3:00 PM.
