Gibson Powers Bucks in Split with National Park

(February 14, 2025) Hot Springs, Arkansas - Coming off a tough 0-4 weekend in Millington last weekend, the Bucks were wanting to get back on track against region foe National Park College. The Bucks and Nighthawks find themselves on opposite sides of divisions this season in Region 2.

Game One

Despite out hitting the Nighthawks, the Bucks would fall 4-2 to start the day at Majestic Park. The game was tied until the bottom of the fifth inning when NPC plated 3 runs. The Bucks tried to climb back into it in the top of the sixth inning, but the men only got a run to make the final score of 4-2.

The Bucks recorded 7 hits in the contest. Three of the hits were by Ethan Miller (Hallsville, TX) that included a double and a stolen base. Cody Hayes (Mildred, TX) and Diego Archila (Baton Rouge, LA) both got 2 hits a piece. Hayes also recorded a RBI in the contest. Shelby Anders (Baton Rouge, LA) drove in the Bucks other run on a sac fly.

On the mound, Ethan Diaz (Minneola, FL) got the start and lasted 4.1 innings. Diaz (1-2) took the loss, giving up 2 runs (1 earned) while striking out 5 and walking 5. Camden Farmer (Paragould, AR) gave up a pair of unearned runs on 3 hits in 1.2 innings of work.

Game Two

The Bucks took an early lead in the second game of the doubleheader on an Ian Smith (Bismarck, AR) RBI single in the top of the first inning. The score would stay that would until a 3-run home run by NPC in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The Bucks regained the lead in the top of the sixth in a big way. With 2 outs and the bases loaded, Dylan Gibson (Springdale, AR) hit a no doubt grand slam over the left centerfield fence to give the Bucks a 5-3 lead. That's all the offense the Bucks would need on their way to a 5-3 win to get the split with NPC.

Trapper Golden (Hughes Springs, TX) pitched an inning before Corbin Miller (Spiro, OK) came on and pitched 3.0 innings to close out the game. Miller (2) picked up his second save of the season.

Logan Steele (Magnolia, TX) got the start and lasted 5.0 innings. Steele (2-0) gave up 3 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 4 in the win.

The Bucks will now travel to Panola College on Monday in Carthage, TX for a doubleheader with the Ponies.
