Lakers Drop Home Finale to Jefferson

By Logan Weingartner

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College men's lacrosse team fell to SUNY Jefferson 26-3 in their final home game on Wednesday evening.

Dakota Bajdas (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) acquired his second hat trick this season as he notched all three goals for the Lakers. His first two scores went unassisted, while the third and final one occurred deep into the third period and came from a feed from Phillip Love (Seneca Falls, N.Y./Mynderse) during a man-advantage. Blake Wells (Scranton, P.A./Abington Heights) had a solid effort in net as he fended off 21/47 shots that came his way.

Although they held the advantage in faceoffs 18-15, with Matthew Brown (Victor, N.Y./Victor) going 3-3 and Rowyn Heagney (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) going 15-30, the Lakers struggled to gain momentum otherwise. The Cannoneers excelled on the offensive end, with their attack led by Lawson Wise and Adam Rathbun as they both combined for 17 goals.

The Lakers begin a three-game road stretch next week, with their first contest coming on Wednesday, April 2nd at 4 PM versus the Lazers of Onondaga Community College.
