Bears split home DH with Ocelots

FLINT - The Mott Community College softball team split its home-opening, MCCAA Eastern Conference doubleheader against Schoolcraft College on Sunday in Flint. 

The Bears dropped the opener 10-3. In game two, Mott scored seven in the fifth to pull away and held on for an 11-7 win. The split moved the Bears to 10-5 overall and 3-1 in the MCCAA. 

Game One Highlights:

  • Cassie Sylvester had two hits and run scored. 

  • Carley Hoover added two hits, while Emma Benner recorded a double and an RBI. 

  • Two-time reigning MCCAA Eastern Conference Player of the Week Keira McGarvie added a triple, run scored, and two RBIs. 

  • Maggie Boehm (5-3) took the loss on the mound, allowing six runs, three earned, on nine hits, while striking out two. 

Game Two Highlights:

  • McGarvie recorded two hits, including a double, while adding three RBIs and a stolen base. 

  • Khloe Williams finished with two hits, a double, an RBI, and a run scored. 

  • Benner added two hits, including a double, and a stolen base. 

  • Heaven Helkowski recorded two hits and two runs. 

  • Eva Opper added a two-run single in her lone at bat. 

  • Arika Hines (5-1) pitched a complete game, allowing seven runs, four earned, on seven hits, while walking five and striking out six.

The Bears travel to Henry Ford College for a doubleheader at 3 pm on Tuesday in Dearborn, Mich.
