
Game 1: PVCC 6, MCC 3
The Pumas took down Mesa 6-3 on Tuesday in game one of their double header.
The Thunderbirds got on the scoreboard first, scoring one run in the top of the first inning. In the bottom of the first inning, the Pumas took the lead after Mesa committed an error, allowing the Pumas to score one, and scoring one more in the boottom half of the inning..
The Pumas added two runs in the third. Paige Ginsberg doubled on the sixth pitch of her at-bat, making the score 4-1.
Brianna Sanchez earned the win for the Pumas. The hurler allowed eight hits and three runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out four and walking one.
Ginsberg provided pop in the middle of the lineup and led the Pumas with two runs batted in. The first baseman went 1-for-4 on the day. Sanchez, Jacie Fink, Ginsberg, and Cami Britton each collected one hit for the Pumas. Brianna Martinez paced the team with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting four walks for the game. Defensively, the Pumas turned one double play in the game.
Game 2: PVCC 2, MCC 20
Mesa scored 12 runs in the second inning, which helped them defeat the Pumas 20-2 in game two of the double header.
Jenna Musselwhite drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Pumas with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Emily Quigg and Trista Quijada each collected two hits for the Pumas. Defensively, the Pumas turned one double play in the game.
The Pumas will travel to Glendale Community College for their next game on Tuesday, March 4 at 12:00pm.
