When No. 3 seed Moraine Valley faced No. 6 seed Rock Valley College in the Region 4 semifinals, they both knew it would be a battle. And it was through five sets, where the Cyclones came out ahead (25-23, 25-18, 16-25, 21-25, 15-13).
It wasn't easy as each set was close and the score continued to go back-and-forth. Going ahead the first two sets and losing momentum in the next two, the Cyclones held on and pushed ahead of the Golden Eagles, just eking past them in the fifth set for the win.
Ava Pequette collected 43 assists and 14 digs. Mary Zielinski added 28 kills while Cameron Szyszka had 11 blocks. Sophia Davidson added 16 digs while Lily Avelar had 11.
The Cyclones face Carl Sandburg College in the NJCAA Region 4 finals on Sunday, Nov. 10, at 3 p.m.
