Red Raven Brian Griffith Scores Career High 34 as #21 Coffeyville Defeats #RV Butler 83-60

Coffeyville, Kan. - Red Raven sophomore guard Brian Griffith scored a career-high 34 points as the #21 NJCAA-ranked Coffeyville Community College defeated the #RV Butler Grizzlies 83-60.  With the victory, the Red Ravens improved their overall record to 19-7 including a 15-5 record in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) matchups.  The 15-5 KJCCC record currently has the Ravens in third place in the 13-team KJCCC Division I Conference.

Coffeyville guard Brian Griffith had an outstanding night for the Ravens scoring 34 points on 11-18 shooting overall including 6-10 from behind the arc.  In a somewhat of a surprise, the matchup of the third and fourth-ranked teams in the KJCCC quickly turned into a route for the Red Ravens.  Coffeyville was ahead by ten points roughly eight minutes into the contest and was up by 14 (41-27) at halftime.  Coffeyville continued to push the peddle down after halftime, extending their lead out to twenty-two points (65-43) ten minutes through the second half.   Coffeyville ended up defeating the Grizzlies of Butler by twenty-three points 83-60.

Coffeyville had a good night shooting, shooting 49% overall including 42% (11-26) from behind the arc while Butler shot 34% overall and 26% (6-23) from 3-point land.  Coffeyville also was dominant on the boards outrebounding Butler 43-32 in the game.

The career night for Griffith led the Ravens with 34 points while freshman forward Abdul Kuta had a 10-point 10-rebound double-double.  Red-shirt sophomore Justin Taylor also contributed 10 points for the Ravens.

Coffeyville will return to action on Saturday, February 22nd as they travel to Pratt Kansas to play the Beavers of Pratt Community College.  Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m. in Pratt.
