Georgia Highlands men’s basketball came from behind to beat South Georgia Tech Wednesday night in Rome. The win extends the Chargers’ win streak to 4 games, puts them at 4-1 in the GCAA and 12-5 overall. They are currently tied with Gordon State for the #2 spot in the conference.
Jay’Quan Nelson led the team with 22 points for his second consecutive 20-point game. Marquin Thompson added 21 while Jah’kim Payne had 16.
GHC led 46-42 at halftime but found themselves down 10 points with 9 minutes remaining in the game. But a pair of 3-pointers by Payne and Nelson under 2 minutes left tied it up, and clutch free throws down the stretch sealed the win.
The Chargers visit South Georgia State Saturday in Waycross. The Hawks sit atop the conference standings and are ranked #23 in the NJCAA.
