RAIDERS BASKETBALL STARTS SEASON STRONG WITH FOUR STRAIGHT WINS
The Roane State Raiders (4-1) are off to a stellar start this basketball season, recording four straight wins and a performance by one standout sophomore that earned him both state and national recognition in week one.
Raiders Forward Walter Campbell was named Player of the Week by the TCCAA as well as the NJCAA following consecutive double-doubles against Georgia Highlands and East Georgia State earlier this month.
Wins three and four were claimed against Snead State at home on November 6 (final score 83-78) and Wake Technical at Caldwell Tech on November 8 (final score 79-76).
The team recorded its first loss of the season November 9 in a highly competitive match-up against Caldwell Tech, with a final score of 71-69. That loss dropped the Raiders from second to fourth in conference standings.
Next on the schedule, Roane State will take on Walters State Community College at home on November 13. It's one of two home games remaining in the month of November for the Raiders. Tipoff is set for 7:30pm ET in the gym on the Roane County Campus.
"We're asking all our Roane State friends and fans to join us for the Walters State game," RSCC Athletics Director David Lane said. "It's always an exciting contest when the Senators come to town, so we want to show our Raider spirit."
After the game with Walters State, the Raiders will hit the road for away games against Southwest Tennessee on November 16 and Motlow State on November 20.
