Bears Basketball cruise pass the John Melvin Millers

The Baton Rouge Bears stepped out of conference play this evening to face the John Melvin University Millers at the Bonne Sante Wellness Center. The Bears secured a commanding 103-55 victory over the Millers.
The game began with the Millers taking an early 7-1 lead in the first two minutes. However, the Bears quickly responded with a 10-2 run, taking a narrow 10-9 lead with 15:43 remaining in the half. The score was tied at 11 with 13 minutes left to play. After that, the Bears imposed their will on the game and utilized their deep bench to wear down the Millers. Key contributions came from bench players Jack King, McKennis Savoie, Harry Johnson, and Cardez Norman. After the game was tied at 11, the Bears outscored the Millers 37-19, taking an eighteen-point lead into halftime with a score of 48-30.
In the second half, the Bears continued their full-court press, which disrupted the Millers' offensive rhythm. The Bears consistently rotated players in and out of the game, giving everyone on their bench an opportunity to play. They outscored the Millers 55-25 in the second half, culminating in the final score of 103-55.
Kialen Phillips led the Bears with 14 points, while three players scored in double figures: Phillips, Savoie, and King. Tayshaun Colomb led the Millers with 18 points.
With this victory, the Bears improved to 14-8, while the Millers fell to 12-14 for the season.

The Bears will travel to Gulfport, Mississippi, tomorrow, Wednesday, February 12, 2025, to take on the Mississippi Community Christian College Hurricanes. The tip-off is scheduled for 6 PM.
