ALBANY, Ga.- The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers got off to a hot start and never looked back Friday afternoon in a matinee affair with the Albany Tech Titans in Georgia, turning a 44-15 halftime lead into an 89-55 blowout win to close out a perfect opening weekend in the Peach State.
After struggling on the offensive end Thursday in their season opener, the Bucs came out hot on Friday in the early start, immediately taking control of the contest with 15 points in the first five minutes to open up a comfortable early lead. They stretch their advantage to double digits midway through the period before going up by 20 on a three from K'Jei Parker with just over 3:00 to go in the first. They didn't relent, scoring 10 points in the final three minutes of the period to open up a 44-15 lead at the break.
The Bucs shot an even 50% from the field in the first half and connected on 9 of 18 from distance while holding Albany Tech to just 18% shooting on 5 made field goals in the first 20 minutes.
The Titans had no answers for the Bucs multifaceted attack in the second half either as FSW rained in shots from all over the floor. They pushed their lead to 40 midway through the half before throwing things in cruise control to finish off an 89-55 victory at the final horn.
The Bucs shot a blistering 53% overall and 52% from three in the contest. Parker led five players in double figures in the win, pouring in 22 points on 8-13 from the field and 6-9 from distance. Ahmed Souhmahoro flirted with a double-double with 10 points and 8 rebounds in the win while Jahmari Johson had a dozen points and 5 boards for the Bucs.
FSW improves to 2-0 with the win while Albany Tech falls to 1-3.
The Bucs will have to wait a while before taking the floor again as they are idle until November 21st when they host Ranger College to open up the Bucs Classic in Suncoast Arena in Fort Myers.
