The Trojans defeat the Broncbusters 46-40

COLBY, Kan. - The Colby Community College women's basketball team hosted Garden City Community College on Saturday afternoon in what proved to be a rugged and physical contest as the Trojans won 46-40. The fans saw a low-scoring defensive battle with two teams built on the defensive end. For an entire season, the Trojans have hung their hat on the team's defense and have built upon that.
A back-and-forth contest called for poise, execution, and a will to fight every possession. In the end, the Trojans would find a way to get a few offensive runs going and made plays down the stretch in the fourth quarter to come away with the 46-40 win. An important Jayhawk conference win keeps the Trojans in the hunt for a home playoff game first round.
"I was pleased with how our group fought the entire game and found ways to string some runs together. That was a very physical game with two teams getting after it. I give our players a ton of credit for coming together and growing during the game. We got enough defensive stops down the stretch and found ways to score to come away with the win. We have a lot to play for this year with much ahead of us, as we take this one game at a time", added coach Spence.
The Trojans return to action Wednesday at Cloud County and Cowley on Saturday.
