After beginning their MCCAA conference season 2-2, the Marian University Ancilla Men's Basketball team had an opportunity to finish off a strong week with their third consecutive win, potentially advancing them to 5-2 in the MCCAA Western Division, and moving them into a tie for second place. The only thing that stood in the way was Kellogg Community College on Saturday afternoon. While the Bruins put up quite the fight in the first half, a 28-24 MUAC advantage, the Chargers were able to find a lot more offense in the second half, securing the much needed 75-60 victory.

Freshman guard Jordan Woods, the team's leading scorer, struggled through foul trouble and managed just 24 minutes...the second fewest he's played this season. While Woods still contributed 13 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals to the affair, it took several other guys to step up to help earn this win.

Freshman guard Matt King was one of those players, scoring 18 points, including a perfect 8-8 performance from the free throw line. Sophomore guard Sean Kimble was also key, scoring 13 points in 33 minutes...both career highs. And Sophomore wing Dante Porch was once again big in a reserve role, scoring 19 points, including 3-5 from long range and a perfect 6-6 from the charity stripe.

With the first half of MCCAA play now complete, the Chargers will look to better their record and attempt to qualify for postseason play. That all starts Wednesday evening, when they travel to Dowagiac, Michigan, for a matchup with the Roadrunners of Southwestern Michigan. This is the back end of a double-header with the Women's team, so tip time is set for approximately 7:30 p.m. Please come out and support the Chargers, if you are able!!
