Lady Bears Defeat the LSU Club Team in the Bears Den!

The Lady Bears continue their preparations for LCCAC play with a matchup against the LSU Club Team at the Bonne Sante Wellness Center. This was a highly competitive game between the Lady Bears and the Lady Tigers, with the Lady Bears pulling away late, in the fourth quarter, to secure a 62-52 victory.

The Lady Bears quickly jumped out to a 10-0 lead with 7:00 minutes remaining in the first quarter. The LSU Club Team started a bit sluggishly but managed to go on an 8-0 run to pull within 2 points, reducing the score to 10-8 with 4:12 left in the quarter. In response, the Lady Bears went on a 6-0 run to close out the quarter with a 16-8 lead, featuring key contributions from DeZarae Stewart, Chanci Moland, and Akiyah Carnes.

To start the second quarter, the Lady Bears settled down on both ends of the floor. They displayed improved ball movement on offense and focused defense, opening the quarter with a 5-0 run to take their largest lead of the period, 21-10. However, the LSU Club Team did not back down, outscoring the Lady Bears 18-14 in the second quarter to narrow the gap to four points at halftime, with a score of 30-26.

In the opening minutes of the third quarter, freshman Kinsley James scored six points, helping the Lady Bears extend their lead to eight points, 38-30, with 7:35 remaining. The LSU Club Team then went on a 7-0 run, pulling within one point at 38-37 with 3:29 left in the quarter. The Lady Tigers capitalized on some sloppy play from the Lady Bears, but the Lady Bears managed to hold a 43-37 advantage at the end of the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the Lady Bears outscored the Lady Tigers 19-15, securing the 62-52 victory.

Kinsley James led the Lady Bears with 19 points.  Tailor Lawrence led the LSU Club Team with 22 points. Both teams have two student athletes score in double figures. With the victory the Lady Bears improved to 7-5 on the season.

Kinsley James led the team with 19 points and 5 steals. 

Shelcie LeBlanc contributed 12 points, along with 5 rebounds and 1 assist. 

Frandreka Keller added 7 points, 4 assists, and 2 steals.

The Lady Bears are scheduled to travel to Marshall, Texas, on Tuesday, January 21, to face the East Texas Baptist JV Tigers at 7:30 PM, weather permitting.
