
Lady Monsters Triumph Over Central Arizona, Advance to Region I Final
Eastern Arizona College's Lady Monsters secured a thrilling victory in the Region I Semifinal against Central Arizona College on Monday, November 4. The home crowd was treated to a high-energy showdown as the Lady Monsters fought through five intense sets to earn their place in the Region I Final.
The Lady Monsters started strong, claiming the first set 25-22. However, Central Arizona returned with determination, taking the next two sets and putting EAC at a disadvantage. Refusing to back down, the Lady Monsters rallied in the fourth set, winning 25-17 and forcing a decisive fifth set. With momentum and grit, EAC clinched the final set, securing their victory in five sets.
Sophomore Melanie Merrill was a standout for Eastern Arizona, showcasing her all-around skills with an impressive 20 kills and 16 digs, contributing a total of 23 points for the Lady Monsters. Defensively, the team was anchored by sophomores Kadence Moore and Asya Akkbulut, who recorded 21 and 20 digs to keep Central Arizona's offense at bay.
With this hard-fought victory, the Lady Monsters advance to the Region I Final, set to take place in Yuma, Arizona, on Wednesday, November 6 against Arizona Western. Go Monsters!
