Miami Dade Secures Series with Late-Inning Victory
Miami Dade clinched the series against College of Central Florida with a thrilling 6-5 win in Game 2, sealing the victory with a clutch RBI single in the eighth inning.
The Sharks jumped ahead early with a solo home run by Cian Copeland in the first inning, but Central Florida responded in the fourth, capitalizing on an error and a two-run double by Tanner Swank to take a 3-1 lead.
Miami Dade answered in the fifth when Talan Beckford's sacrifice fly brought the Sharks within one, followed by Copeland's second home run of the game—this time a two-run blast—to reclaim the lead at 4-3. An RBI single by David Zamora in the sixth extended the advantage to 5-3.
Central Florida fought back in the seventh, tying the game on a two-run homer by Logan Chapman. But in the eighth, Denixon Suarez delivered the game-winning RBI single, scoring Willy Mendez to put Miami Dade on top for good.
Jack Garvey earned the win in relief, shutting down Central Florida in the eighth, while the Sharks' pitching staff combined for nine strikeouts and allowed just two earned runs.
