ARNOLD, Md. – A six-goal fourth quarter by the visiting Herkimer College men's lacrosse team erased what had been a solid two-goal lead by Anne Arundel Community College and sent the Generals on to a 13-9 win Monday evening at Siegert Field.
Sahil Lengade led the Riverhawks' offense with three goals and an assist. Tyson Miller added a hat trick and Justin Sampson chipped in with a goal and two assists. Evan Davidson picked up two assists, and AACC got single goals from James Kavney and Gavin Raspa.
The Riverhawks (1-5) had a two-goal lead on four occasions, and headed into the final quarter with a 9-7 advantage. Herkimer won six of seven faceoffs in the fourth quarter, bolstering their momentum.
AACC opened the game with goals from Miller and Lengade just over a minute apart before Herkimer responded with a man-up goal. Sampson pushed the Riverhawks back ahead by two before the Generals used another man-up goal with 2:06 left in the quarter to cut the lead back to one.
The teams traded goals twice in the second before Gavin Raspa potted his fifth goal of the season to send the Riverhawks into halftime with a 6-4 lead.
The trend continued into the third where the teams answered goal for goal. But Herkimer outscored AACC, 6-0, in the final frame to move to 4-0 on the season.
Kavney battled it out at the faceoff x, winning 13 of 22 draws. Parrish Fleming made 18 saves, nine in each half.
