Miami Dade College Rallies Past Hillsborough Community College, 85-75
The Miami Dade Sharks pulled away late to defeat Hillsborough Community College 85-75, fueled by a dominant fourth-quarter performance. The Sharks used a balanced attack and strong rebounding to outlast the Hawks in a game that was tightly contested through the first three quarters.
The Sharks came out firing, putting up 30 points in the first quarter to take an early 10-point lead. Forward Cleaira Peterson led the charge, controlling the paint and grabbing key rebounds. However, Hillsborough clawed back in the middle quarters behind sharp shooting from guard Danika Ballard and consistent scoring from forward Linnea Blomberg. By the end of the third quarter, Miami Dade's lead was cut to just one point, 59-58.
The fourth quarter was all Miami Dade. The Sharks turned up the defensive intensity, holding the Hawks to just 14 points while scoring 26 themselves. Peterson continued her dominant night with key putbacks and clutch free throws, while Shameir Quimby and Jazmin Williams made big plays to help seal the win.
Cleaira Peterson dominated with 24 points, 18 rebounds, and a key presence on both ends of the floor with Shameir Quimby delivering 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists, including 11-13 shooting from the free-throw line. with Jazmin Williams adding 9 points and 5 rebounds off the bench, sparking runs in the final quarter.
The Sharks will look to carry the momentum from this win into their next matchup which is this Saturday on the road.
