Cecil Grabs 20th Win
NORTH EAST - Cecil College men's basketball earned its 20th win of the season on Wednesday evening, coming from behind to defeat Potomac State 97-88.
The Seahawks trailed at the break by five, but went on to outscore the Catamounts 56-42 in the second half to win the game. This is the eighth time Cecil has pulled off such a feat the season.
As a unit, the Seahawks hit new season highs for field goal percentage (56.3%) and three-point percentage (41.7%). Sophomore's Darrien Berrios Rivera and Jaiden Guy combined for 51 of Cecil's points. Berrios Rivera earned a career high 29 points after shooting 11-for-15 from the floor. Guy picked up the rest and led the Seahawks with seven rebounds, four steals and three blocks.
Turning Point
Cecil ended the first half and started the second on a 9-0 run, all of which was scored by Berrios Rivera and Guy. A pair of big stops from the Seahawks' defense during this stretch gave them the momentum for the remainder of the contest.
