WATERLOO, Iowa – The Northeast Community College volleyball team traveled to Waterloo, Iowa Wednesday for the penultimate match of the conference portion of their schedule against Hawkeye Community College. The Hawks swept the RedTails by a final score of 3-0 to remain in third place in the ICCAC standings.

Northeast (23-13, 7-3 ICCAC) took the first set 25-15 and never looked back in the showdown as the victory marked the eighth sweep during the month of October for the Hawks. Players from all over the floor stuffed the stat sheet for Northeast as Mya Hedstrom (O'Neill, Neb.) recorded 15 kills while Kaidence Wilson (North Loup, Neb.) contributed four blocks. Hedstrom and Jayden Bestenlehner (Omaha, Neb.) each put Hawkeye on their toes with three ace serves each and Shaylyn Safranek (Merna, Neb.) recorded 31 assists. The Hawks will now step out of conference play for a match with NJCAA DI No. 18 Indian Hills Community College at 3 p.m. tomorrow in Ottumwa, Iowa.

"Great to get another conference win!" Schultze said. "I felt we served aggressive and passed pretty well tonight."
Schultze on battling the nationally ranked Warriors tomorrow:
"The key tomorrow is going to be energy, communication and just work ethic," Schultze said. "We were just a half step behind in some areas tonight, and we need to fix that."
