Game 1:
Arkansas State Mid-South Earn Walk-Off Win Over Spoon River College
It came down to the wire on Sunday, as Arkansas State Mid-South grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 3-2, over Spoon River College. The game was tied at two in the bottom of the eighth when Frazier induced Matthew Dutton to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Arkansas State Mid-South pitchers struck out 12, while Spoon River College sat down nine.
Spoon River College opened the scoring in the top of the third thanks to two singles. Spoon River College first got on the board when Tanamor singled, scoring one run.
Darrian Yarborough grounded into a fielder's choice, which helped Arkansas State Mid-South tie the game at two in the bottom of the sixth.
Max Bayne earned the win for Arkansas State Mid-South. The hurler surrendered two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out three and walking two. Arkansas State Mid-South Defeated By Spoon River College
Arkansas State Mid-South lost to Spoon River College 6-4 on Sunday.
Spoon River College got on the board in the top of the first inning after Kuzinar singled down the right field line, and Crum hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.
A ground out by Kuzinar extended the Spoon River College lead to 3-0 in the top of the third inning.
Bourdeau earned the win for Spoon River College. The hurler gave up five hits and three runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking two. Darrian Yarborough took the loss for Arkansas State Mid-South. The starter went four and one-third innings, giving up four runs on six hits, striking out four and walking four. Marchand earned the save.
James Chicorelli went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Ethan Hirons led Arkansas State Mid-South with two hits in three at bats from the leadoff position. Arkansas State Mid-South turned one double play in the game.
Spoon River College piled up 11 hits in the game. Gerwig, Kuzinar, Stufflebeam, and Arnett each collected two hits for Spoon River College. Gerwig went 2-for-5 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Weaver stole two bases.
