ESTHERVILLE — Four players scored in double figures as the Marshalltown Community College men's basketball team beat 13th-ranked Iowa Lakes in Saturday's season-opening game, 78-66.
DJ Hamilton and Antwan Bridgett scored 17 points apiece to lead the Tigers, who got out to a 40-27 halftime advantage. Justice Small scored 16 points and Jayden Hill added a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds to power MCC to the victory.
Small had seven steals and Bridgett added six more to the Tigers' team total of 17 swipes. MCC forced the Lakers into 25 turnovers.
Jhordan Ryan led Iowa Lakes with 15 points and 15 rebounds. Ashton Hermann had 14 points, Jermaine Freeman added 13, and Kaden Tate tallied nine points and 14 boards.
MCC plays its home opener on Tuesday night, taking on the Mount Mercy College junior varsity at 7 p.m. inside the Student Activity Center.
