Bears dominate Piney Woods Post Grad Tornadoes !

In a much-anticipated match, the Baton Rouge Bears faced off against Piney Woods Post Grad this afternoon. Looking to snap a four-game losing streak, the Bears showcased solid defense and impressive offensive play, ultimately defeating the Piney Woods Tornadoes with a final score of 98-72.
The Bears opened the scoring with a three-pointer by sophomore guard Troy Joseph. Piney Woods tied the game at 6 with 18 minutes left in the first half. However, the Bears responded with an impressive 25-7 run over the next eight minutes, establishing a commanding 31-13 lead at the halfway mark of the first half. The Bears employed a full-court press that disrupted the Tornadoes' offensive rhythm, resulting in multiple turnovers and easy baskets for the Bears. Awak Machar and Laron Louis Jr. came off the bench to ignite the Bears' offense. By halftime, the Bears had built a strong 27-point lead, 53-26.
In the second half, the Tornadoes were determined to fight back. They intensified their defensive pressure, causing the Bears to struggle on offense. Piney Woods pulled within twenty points, narrowing the score to 68-48 with 12 minutes remaining in the game. However, the Bears again found a spark from their bench, allowing them to maintain and ultimately extend their lead, finishing with a 98-72 victory. Jace Patin, Odaine Clahar, and Harry Johnson combined to contribute 20 points in the second half off the bench.
McKennis Savoie led the Bears in scoring with a game-high 20 points, while three of his teammates scored in double figures. For Piney Woods, Brandon Royal led his team with 16 points, contributing to three Tornadoes scoring in double digits as well.
With this victory, the Bears improved their season record to 5-5 and are now 2-0 against Piney Woods Post Grad.

Laron Louis Jr. contributed 13 points and 4 rebounds.
Awak Machar scored 12 points, including 2 three-pointers.
Cardez Norman added 8 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.
The Bears will take a break for final exams and will return to action on Thursday, December 19, and Friday, December 20, when they travel to Mobile, Alabama, for the Bishop State Community College Battle of Mardi Gras Tournament. The Bears will face Coastal Alabama South on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and Bishop State on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
