Bucks Double Dip ASU Three Rivers; Start 2-0 in Region Play

(March 1, 2025) Malvern, Arkansas - After a tough week for the ladies, they travelled to take on ASU Three Rivers for their first region doubleheader of the season. The Bucks split on Tuesday with Central Baptist's JV and lost a doubleheader against ranked Paris Junior College. The ladies wanted to get back on track Saturday afternoon. The Bucks and Lady Eagles have never played in regular seson or region competition prior to Saturday.

It was all Bucks at Leopard Yard over the Lady Eagles: 8-2 and 15-0 (5 innings). The ladies dominated the opening innings of both games to get their first region wins of the season. 

Offensively, the ladies pounded out 22 hits in the doubleheader to score their 23 runs on the day. Jaliyah Simmons (Muskogee, OK) had 6 of those hits, including 2 home runs to run her season total to 6. The short stop also led the Bucks with 6 RBIs and 5 runs on the day. Mallory Cheek (Lumberton, TX) and Emma Reynolds (Cayuga, TX) each had 4 and 3 hits, respectively. 

Simmons wasn't the only Buck to hit the long ball. Emily Stout (Vilonia, AR) hit her first home run of her college career in the second game that plated 3 runs. Ashlen Van Meter (Brock, TX) and Kate Daigle (Rayne, LA) each had a double on the day. 

In the cirlce, the Bucks used three pitchers on the day. Hayden White (Red Oak, OK) went the distance to start off the day. White (3-0) picked up her third win of the season in 7.0 innings of work. She would give up 2 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 4 in the outing. Addisyn Wright (Whitesboro, OK) pitched 4.0 innings in the second game, giving up 0 runs on 2 hits. Wright (3-2) got her season record to a gave above .500. Lindsey Smyth (Mansfield, TX) pitched the final inning of the day, facing 3 batters. 

The wins took the Bucks record to 11-6 on the year, but more importantly, they start 2-0 in Region II play.

The ladies will now travel on Monday to Fort Scott Community College. The doubleheader was orginially scheduled for Tuesday, but it moved due to weather on Tuesday.
