Timberwolves End the 2024-25 Season 18-9 After Tough 2nd Round Playoff Exit
Queensbury, NY –
The SUNY Adirondack Timberwolves' remarkable 2024-25 season came to an end on Friday, as they fell to Tompkins-Cortland in the second round of the playoffs. Despite a hard-fought game, the Timberwolves were unable to keep pace with the aggressive second-half play of TC3, losing 85-65.
After a close first half where the Timberwolves trailed by only 1 point (35-34), Tompkins-Cortland came out in the second half with renewed energy and locked in defensively. The Panthers' defense stifled Adirondack's offensive rhythm, while their fast-paced transition game left the Timberwolves scrambling to keep up.
Xavier Sanchez, Eugene Johnson, and Eddie Sanchez led the Timberwolves in double figures in their final game wearing the green and yellow, showing leadership and determination. While the team fought hard until the final buzzer, they couldn't find an answer for the Panthers' relentless attack.
Although the season ended in disappointment, the Timberwolves' 18-9 overall record marks their best finish since 1989. The team has shown tremendous growth throughout the year, and their postseason performance demonstrated the strength and resilience they developed over the course of the season.
In addition to the team's strong performance, sophomore Tyre Williams was honored with 2nd Team All-Region recognition for his exceptional play this season. Williams' contributions were a driving force for the Timberwolves, and his well-deserved award adds another bright spot to an impressive season.
Head coach, Maxx Sweet, praised his team's efforts: "This season has been a huge step forward for our program. While we're disappointed with the loss, we are incredibly proud of how hard our players worked all year long. We're already looking ahead to building on this success for the future."
The Timberwolves' 2024-25 season may have come to a close, but the team's legacy as one of the best in recent history at SUNY Adirondack will endure. As they look to build upon this success, there is no doubt that the future is bright for the Timberwolves.
