Chargers stay unbeaten in conference after red-hot 2nd half against Black Hawk

GALESBURG — The Sandburg men's basketball team completed an unbeaten run through the first half of its Arrowhead Conference schedule after rallying to beat Black Hawk 81-68 on Tuesday night.

KEY MOMENTS
• The Chargers (13-8, 3-0) trailed 34-19 with 6:00 left in the opening half before a 19-4 push helped them tie the game at 38 going into intermission. Sandburg was 17 of 18 on 2-point shots in the first half but missed on all 11 3-point tries.
• The Chargers turned the tide in the second half, connecting on 57 percent (17 of 30) of their shots from the floor, including a 5 for 10 mark from 3-point distance. Sandburg opened the second half with Ralph Wires feeding Ethan Price for a layup, and Tyler Heffren followed with a 3-pointer. The Chargers didn't trail for the rest of the night.
• Nine straight points from Jase Whiteman got the Braves within 60-58 with 7:40 to go, but a Logan Sluder 3-pointer, a Ralph Wires backdoor layup and two Sluder free throws extended Sandburg's lead back to double digits at 71-60.

SANDBURG STANDOUT
Sluder tied for game-high honors with 23 points while shooting 7 of 11 from the field. The sophomore from Normal West was 3 of 6 from 3-point land and 6 for 6 at the line. Sluder also had four rebounds and three assists.
