WARRIORS ROLL CYCLONES FOR WEEKEND SWEEP

Centerville, IA – The Indian Hills Baseball team completed its three-game sweep of St. Cloud Technical & Community College (MN) on Sunday with a 16-9 victory over the Cyclones. The Warriors move to 6-11 overall on the year.

The Warriors put together their most impressive offensive outing of the year, pounding out 13 hits en route to its highest run production in 2025. In three games vs. the Cyclones at Pat Daugherty Field this weekend, the Warriors totaled 34 total runs after entering the weekend with just 39 runs scored on the year.

Sophomore Tijmen Nagel (Amsterdam, Netherlands/Roc Amsterdam) powered the offense with a 3-4 performance at the plate from the leadoff spot, driving in four runs to go along with three runs scored. Cale Clark (Marionville, MO/Marionville), Kevin Ramos (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Springfield Commonwealth), and Ethan Acevedo (Monroe, NY/Iona Prep) each added two hits in the series finale.

Starting pitcher Kurtis Smith (Melbourne, Australia/Wantirna) struck out a season-high seven batters to secure his second win of the year on the mound for the Warriors.

Trailing 1-0 after one half inning of play, the Warriors erupted in the bottom half of the first with seven runs, including five with two outs. Nagel delivered the biggest hit of the frame, a three-run double to right centerfield to push the lead to 7-1.

The Warriors added two more in the fourth before Nagel added a sacrifice fly in the fifth for a 10-3 advantage. Freshman Diego Mendez (Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico/ESCAED) and sophomore Zachari Pace (Colorado Springs, CO/Vista Ridge) put the game out of reach in the sixth with back-to-back run-scoring doubles.

Daniel Balderas-Lujan (Boulder, CO/Boulder) added a run-scoring single in the seventh before Clark tacked on the final insurance run of the night with an RBI double to right in the eighth.

The Warriors' homestand continues Monday afternoon against Ellsworth Community College for the team's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) opener. Originally scheduled for a Wednesday afternoon doubleheader, first pitch on Monday is set for 3:00 PM from Pat Daugherty Field.
