Ocelots Hold On in Low Scoring Affair

LIVONIA, MI – Schoolcraft came into their game against the Chargers from Edison State looking for their 7th win on the year and 3rd win in a row.

Offensively, for both teams, it would be a slow 1st half. Edison State would be held to just 30.8% from the field and Schoolcraft would be held to just 30.3% from the field. Despite the lower field goal percentage, the Ocelots would still find themselves with a 23-21 lead going into the half. Marshall Thorn would lead Schoolcraft in scoring with 7 points over his 13 minutes in the 1st half. Thorn and Kechan Johnson would each tie for the team lead with 4 rebounds in the half.

Things would open up more in the 2nd half for both teams. Edison State would see their percentage jump up to 44.8% for the half and Schoolcraft would go 39.3% from the field. Things would remain close throughout the entire half. The Ocelots would find a way to outscore the Chargers in the 2nd half, just like the 1st half, but this time by only 1. That would be all they would need, however, as Schoolcraft would come out victorious with a 55-52 victory.

J'Vohn Walker's 10points in the 2nd half would help him on his way to be the Ocelots leading scorer with 12 points. Thorn would finish with 11 points and Holyn Brigham would finish with 10 points in the victory. Rael Cochran would lead all of Schoolcraft with 8 rebounds while tacking on 8 points.

Schoolcraft stays at home for their next game as they play host to the 11th ranked team in the country, State College of New York Niagara. Niagara comes to the mitten state with a 14-0 record but could reach 15-0 as they travel to Henry Ford on Friday before coming over on Saturday.
