Despite getting big double-doubles from two players, the Panthers women's basketball team dropped a road game to Cayuga Community College Saturday, 60-46. Tompkins Cortland is now 3-6 overall and 1-3 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Cayuga improves to 5-8 overall and 2-3 in the MSAC.

Cayuga led 17-13 after the first quarter and stretched the lead each of the next two quarters. The Panthers had the advantage in the fourth, but it was too late to change the outcome.

Cassie Doane (Candor/Owego Free Academy) came up two short of the team record with 24 rebounds, adding 12 points for the double-double. Amyra Pontillos (Sandia Park, N.M./Manzano H.S.) also had a rounded game with 13 points and 15 rebounds. Michaela Jean-Philippe (Binghamton/Binghamton H.S.) had 14 points to lead the team in scoring.

Looking ahead

The Panthers play at SUNY Broome on Sunday.
