Trojans top Comets, 78-65
MASON CITY - Zion Wright scored 17 points with 16 rebounds to lead the NIACC men's basketball team to a 78-65 victory over Western Iowa Tech Wednesday night in an ICCAC contest in the NIACC gym.
Wright's 16 rebounds were the most in a game by a NIACC men's basketball player since Wyatt Helming collected 16 rebounds against Minnesota North-Itasca on Nov. 11, 2023.
Wright also led the Trojans with six assists.
NIACC (16-8 overall, 8-6 in the ICCAC) also received 17 points from Adam Hackett and 14 points from Jaheim Savage. The Trojans' Randy McClendon and Lance Helming both scored 11 points.
Savage also recorded a double/double by grabbing 10 rebounds.
NIACC's Omarion Roberts dished out five assists and grabbed five rebounds. The Trojans' Brayden Drea had five rebounds with four assists.
NIACC led 31-26 at the half and outscored the Comets 47-39 in the second 20 minutes.
NIACC returns to action Saturday in a non-conference contest at Marshalltown CC. Game time is slated for 3 p.m.
