The Lakers men's basketball team traveled to Erie Community College tonight and dropped a 99-82 decision to the Kats. The teams split the season series. Both the Lakers and the Kats would battle for the first several minutes of the game as the teams traded baskets. With just under 11:30 to play in the first half, the Lakers would take a 24-18 lead after back-to-back 3-pointers from Kaleb Wanamaker and Amarion Glenn. Unfortunately, the Kats would take advantage of a shooting cold spell and Laker turnovers over the next few minutes to take the lead and go into the break with a 47-38 advantage.

In the second half, Lakeland would battle to get back into the game only to be thwarted by the Kats. At the 16:22 mark, the Lakers would cut the deficit to 6 at 53-47, following a Brandon Moore steal and dunk. The Kats would convert a free throw before Kaleb Wanamaker would make it a 4 point game, 54-50, after connecting on another 3-pointer with 15 minutes to play. The Kats would then score and Ben Hamilton would answer with a jumper. Following a Kat miss, Eric Cook would feed Amarion Glenn for a bucket cutting the deficit to 2 points at 56-54. The Lakers would get no closer as the Kats again took advantage of a few missed shots and turnovers to grow their lead and then take the game.

In a very balanced attack, the Lakers had 5 players finish in double digits. Eric Cook led Lakeland with 21 points on 9-16 shooting from the floor. Devin Belle finished with 19 points and 6 rebounds while Brandon Moore added 12 points on 4-6 shooting. Kaleb Wanamaker and Amarion Glenn both recorded 10 points while David McClain finished his night with 8 points for the Lakers.

Next Up: The Lakers will head to Mott Community College on Friday (12/20) where they will face Alpena Community College in a 5:30 pm tilt. On Saturday (12/21), the Lakers will face Muskegon Community College in an 3:00 pm matchup at Mott.
