AHLEMEYER HAS TWO DOUBLES AS NORTHEAST STARTS POSTSEASON PLAY FRIDAY
FORT DODGE, Iowa – The Northeast Community College softball team traveled to Fort Dodge, Iowa Friday and competed in Game 2 of the Region 11-B Tournament against No. 12 Kirkwood Community College. The Hawks fell in the postseason contest by a final score of 5-1.
FORT DODGE, Iowa – The Northeast Community College softball team traveled to Fort Dodge, Iowa Friday and competed in Game 2 of the Region 11-B Tournament against No. 12 Kirkwood Community College. The Hawks fell in the postseason contest by a final score of 5-1.
Northeast (21-35, 8-20 ICCAC) gave the ball to Isabel Raburn (Holdrege, Neb.) in the circle during the matchup and the freshman started hot as she did not allow a hit through the first inning. Raburn ended the day having only allowed five hits while striking out four batters, but she did surrender four earned runs. Bailee Ahlemeyer (Cambridge, Neb.) picked up both of the hits for the Hawks in the showdown with two doubles as Northeast will now look ahead to a win-or-go-home battle with Ellsworth Community College tomorrow in Game 3 of the tournament.

Head Softball Coach Erin Sharpe on the day against Kirkwood:
"I thought we competed hard," Sharpe said. "We had one iffy inning, but we didn't let that get us down. We were hitting the ball hard, just right to people and Kirkwood has a solid defense."
Sharpe on looking ahead to tomorrow:
"If we can hit like we did today, we are in good shape going into tomorrow," Sharpe said. "Overall, I am happy with the team and how they competed today."
