
Baseball extends winning streak to seven games with 20-0 win over Asian Breeze
YUMA, Ariz. – The No. 20 ranked Arizona Western Matadors Baseball team (19-5) won its sixth consecutive game, beating Asian Breeze 20-0 in seven innings on Monday afternoon at Walt Kammann Baseball Field.
Dan Kawanishi went 4-for-4 with two doubles and three runs batted in to help the Matadors score 20 or more runs for the third time in the last seven days.
The Matadors wasted little time, scoring seven runs in the first inning to jump out to an early 7-0 lead before adding one in the second and three more in the third. Arizona Western put up a five-spot in the fourth inning.
Javier Diaz collected three hits and drove in a pair of runs, while Parker Husu, Luca Hoerger, and Dorian Bouniol each had two hits, and Elian Olmos doubled in the win.
Mac Gatzke started the game for the Matadors and tossed three shutout innings, while Isamel Cordoba, Yoni Castro, and Gregorys Mateo chipped in to finish the shutout with four scoreless innings in relief.
The Matadors are back in action on Friday, March 7, heading to Coolidge, Ariz., to take on Central Arizona in game one of a three-game series at 2:00 pm.
