Miami Dade Shuts Down Millenia Atlantic in Early Offensive Surge
Miami Dade used a strong offensive start and solid bullpen work to secure a 7-4 victory over Millenia Atlantic University on Tuesday night. The Sharks struck early with seven runs in the first two innings and held off a late push from the visitors to claim the win.
Miami Dade wasted no time jumping on the scoreboard, plating three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Michael Petite sparked the scoring with an RBI single, bringing David Zamora home. Willy Mendez followed with an RBI single of his own before Jovan Swasey drove in the third run on a sacrifice fly.
The second inning saw even more offensive fireworks as the Sharks tacked on four more runs. Cian Copeland knocked in Zamora, while Matthew Say delivered a clutch two-run single to extend the lead. Adrian Poviones capped off the rally with an RBI single, putting Miami Dade ahead 7-0.
On the mound, Andy Mesa was dominant, tossing three hitless innings with three strikeouts. The bullpen combined for six innings of work, allowing just two earned runs while striking out 11.
Millenia Atlantic attempted a comeback, scoring in the fourth, sixth, and seventh innings, but the Sharks' defense held strong. Luis Rodriguez sealed the win with a scoreless ninth inning, securing the team's latest victory.
The Sharks totaled 13 hits, led by Zamora (3-for-3, 2 R) and Copeland (2-for-4, 2 R, RBI). Miami Dade also showcased aggressive baserunning with three stolen bases on the night.
