Highlanders sweep Rangers
The McLennan Highlanders swept the Ranger Rangers this afternoon on the road.
The Highlanders took game one 14-5 with Alex Wallace getting the win on the mound.
McLennan scored two runs in the top of the first. Sherman Johnson singled and Marcus Smith doubled, both scoring on a single by Daniel Harden.
Ranger scored all five of its runs in the bottom of the first. Michael Lozano hit a solo home run. Andrew Perez doubled and Jeremiah Torres singled. Perez scored on a double by Tui Amosa, and Ashton Fisher doubled to score Torres and Amosa. Fisher advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Koen Piepkorn.
The Highlanders added two runs in the third as Marcus Smith was hit by the pitch and scored on Harden's home run.
McClane Helton's solo home run for the Highlanders to lead off the fourth tied the game.
McLennan exploded for nine runs in the sixth. Harden was hit by the pitch and AJ Goytia singled. Helton singled to load the bases, and Deiten Lachance followed with a grand slam! Owen Smith singled, Sherman Johnson was hit by the pitch and Spencer Butt walked, reloading the bases. Marcus Smith singled to score Owen Smith, and Goytia hit a grand slam!
Game two was a scoring frenzy with the Highlander getting the 26-11 victory in eight innings. Isaac Godard got the win on the mound.
Ranger began the scoring with two runs in the first as Fisher doubled and scored on Amosa's home run.
McLennan took the lead with three runs in the second. Harden led off with a solo home run. Goytia walked, Helton singled and Lachance singled to load the bases. Cage McCloud singled to score Goytia, and Helton scored on a passed ball.
The Rangers tied the game with a run in the bottom of the second. Larry Drake singled and advanced on an error. Jayden Brown then doubled to score Drake.
The Highlanders regained the lead with three runs in the fifth. Harden singled and Helton walked, both scoring on a McCloud home run.
Ranger took the lead once again with six runs in the bottom of the fifth. Piepkorn singled, advanced on a sac bunt by Brown and scored on a single by Fisher. Amosa then doubled to score Fisher. Lozano singled and Torres followed with a double, scoring Amosa and Lozano. Sean Gardiner doubled and Drake singled to score Torres and Gardiner.
McLennan added four runs in the sixth. Butt walked and Marcus Smith doubled, both scoring on a single by Harden. Goytia singled and Lachance walked. McCloud also walked, scoring Harden. Owen Smith was hit by the pitch, scoring Goytia and putting the Highlanders back in the lead.
The Rangers went back on top with two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Piepkorn doubled and advanced on an error before being out at home on a fielder's choice by Fisher. Amosa walked, and both runners scored on a double by Lozano.
McLennan responded with seven runs in the seventh. Butt and Marcus Smith hit back-to-back homers. Goytia was hit by the pitch and Helton followed with a two-run homer. Lachance and McCloud both walked, advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a double by Owen Smith. Johnson walked and Butt singled to score Owen Smith.
The Highlanders added another nine runs in the eighth to secure the run rule. Goytia walked, and Helton and Lachance both singled to load the bases. McCloud walked, scoring Goytia. Owen Smith then singled to score Helton and Lachance. Johnson singled to score McCloud, and. Butt walked. Brody Chyr doubled to score Owen Smith and Johnson, and Butt scored on a ground out by Walker Freeman. Chyr scored on a wild pitch, Helton walked and Lachance singled. Brecken Menuet followed with a single to score Helton.
