The Lakeland baseball team continued its road trip as they faced the Sussex County Skylanders today at CCBC Catonsville. The Lakers and Skylanders would have a classic pitchers matchup before the Lakers fell 2-0. The teams were both pitching shutouts until the bottom of the 6th inning. Ethan Duncan started and hurled 5 scoreless innings while allowing just 2 hits and striking out 4 batters. Anthony Barbosa relieved and gave up 2 earned runs (1 earned) to take the tough luck loss. Cody Crawford mustered the only Lakeland hit. Crawford also stole 2 bases getting to 3rd base, but the Lakers were unable to push him home.
Krause's Comments: "It was a good baseball game today. We made most of the plays defensively and pitched well - we just couldn't put together enough offense. It was definitely a step forward - we'll keep working hard and get better."
Next Up: The Lakers will face the hometown CCBC Catonsville Cardinals on Sunday (3/2) in a noon doubleheader.
