RedTails Lose to #17 Tritons

The Hawkeye RedTail Softball Team travelled to Fort Dodge, Iowa to face #17 Iowa Central Community College. The RedTails lost both, losing game one 11-1 in six innings and losing game two 6-1.

 

Game One: 11 (ICCC), 1 (HCC)

The Tritons started the game hot in the first inning, scoring three runs. They added one more run in the third inning.

The sole run came in the fourth inning when Mya Chamberlin hit a solo homerun.

Iowa Central scored two more runs in the fourth to go up 6-1.

They tacked on two more runs in the fifth and three runs in the sixth to complete the game.

Chamberlin led at the plate going 1-2 with one run scored, one run batted in, one homerun, and one walk. Courtney Hemsley, Emilee Bergmann, and Lucy Lebo each had a hit. On the mound, Chambelrin took the loss, going 5.1 innings, giving up ten hits, 11 runs, nine earned, three walks, and three strikeouts.

 

Game Two: 6 (ICCC), 1 (HCC)

The RedTails scored first in game two. Lebo started with a single and Hemsley hit a single to put runners on the corners. Hailey Harbour then singled to score the sole run of the game for the RedTails.

Iowa Central responded and scored one run in the bottom of the first to tie up the game. They added one more run in the second inning, three runs in the third inning, and one run in the fourth inning, giving them a 6-1 lead.

Harley Gaudet walked in the top of the seventh with no outs to try to spark something for the RedTails, but unfortunately they were unable to push a run across, giving the Tritons the win.

At the plate, Harbour led the way, going 2-3 with one run batted in. On the mound, Jordan Eads took the loss, going three innings, giving up five hits, five runs, five earned, two walks, and two strikeouts. Adelyn Sienknecht finished the game, going three innings, giving up two hits, one run, one earned, one walk, and two strikeouts.

 

The RedTails have their final weekend home series this weekend on April 12th and 13th. They host Des Moines Area Community College and Northeast Community College. First pitch is set for 1:00 PM on Saturday and 12:00 PM on Sunday.
