
Kirkwood Softball Sweeps Blackhawk in Doubleheader
The Kirkwood Eagles softball team picked up two wins against Blackhawk, securing a 2-1 victory in Game 1 and an 11-4 triumph in Game 2.
Game 1: Kirkwood 2, Blackhawk 1
Pitcher Peyton Paulsen delivered a dominant performance in the circle, taking a no-hitter through 6 1/3 innings and allowing just one hit while striking out seven. Her stellar outing kept Blackhawk's offense in check.
The Eagles' offense was sparked in the 5th inning when Kiya Johnson launched a two-run home run, providing all the offense Kirkwood needed to seal the 2-1 victory.
Game 2: Kirkwood 11, Blackhawk 4
Kirkwood's bats came alive in the second game, powered by strong performances from Brenna Ross, Kinsley Theobald, and Sophia Kreutner, who all recorded multiple hits. Kreutner led the charge with three RBIs, helping the Eagles secure an 11-4 win.
On the mound, Natalie Vitek picked up the win, keeping Blackhawk's offense at bay.
