IRVING, Texas – Dallas College North Lake's men's basketball team moved within a game of .500 after a 99-80 win over Dallas College Mountain View Wednesday night in the Blazer Dome.

North Lake (13-14, 8-4 Dallas Athletic Conference) swept the season series from Mountain View (11-16, 4-8) to remain in second place in the league. The top two teams in the six-team DAC receive a quarterfinal bye in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III South Central District Tournament Feb. 25-March 1.

North Lake sophomore guard David Clower matched his career-high with 18 points, while matching his personal best with eight field goals. He scored 11 points in the first half – one the Blazers opened up a 55-40 lead. Anden Holmes scored 17 points, and Alex Gilmore had 11 of his 15 in the first half. Justin Whitmore had 12 points J'Ylon Nobles added 11 points.

Mountain View's Augustine Chibuko scored 22 points on 10 of 14 shooting, and had seven of his nine rebounds on the offensive glass. He had two blocks. Ashton Price finished with 21 points, hitting 11 of 12 free throws.

North Lake, which did not trail throughout the game, took a 21-8 lead after a steal by Nobles led to a pass from Dre'Yon Quattlebaum to A'Marie Haywood for a transition bucket. Mountain View's Jeremiah Talib hit a 3-pointer, and scored in transition to cut the Blazers' lead to 26-19 near the midway point of the first half.

The Blazers pushed their lead back to double digits, but Price sank a free throw to cut it seven with 3:41 left in the half. Clower's floater at the 1:47 mark stretched the lead back to 11, and Eron Bogart scored 13 seconds later to make it 49-36.

Mountain View was 26 of 71 from the field, and 4 of 22 from the three-point line. The Lions sank 24 of 31 free throws. North Lake went 10 of 13 from the free throw line.

A runner by Nobles put the Blazers ahead 63-53 early in the second half before Price answered with a bucket on the other end. Clower found Bogart for a thunderous dunk at the 13:23 mark to keep the Blazers up nine. Holmes scored on a feed from Adonai Rezene, and Rezene hit a turnaround jumper to build the lead back to 81-64. Clower scored on a driving layup with 6:27 to play to make it a 20-point game.

It was the first time since Dec. 7 the Blazers had five players reach double figures. The last time also was against Mountain View.

North Lake hosts Dallas College Eastfield (6-19, 4-8) at 1 p.m. Saturday on NLC TV.
