Dundalk Escapes Cecil with Last-Second Victory
NORTH EAST - Cecil College men's basketball suffered a heartbreaking loss on Wednesday evening, falling 81-80 to the CCBC-Dundalk Lions.
Freshman forward Carlito McBryde led the Seahawks with a career high 25 points and nine rebounds. Jaiden Guy poured in 16 points.
Cecil drops to 7-3 (0-1 Region 20 D2) on the year after the defeat.
Turning Point
McBryde went to the line with 16 seconds to play, knocking down 1-of-2 free throws to put the Seahawks ahead 80-79. Dundalk would rebound the second attempt and storm down the court before calling timeout.
Cecil nearly ended the game out of the break when a miscue by the Lions caused a jump ball, but the visitors had the possession arrow in their favor. Dundalk called its final timeout and setup a play for guard Hussain Williams with 2.5 second to play. The sophomore airmailed a three-point attempt, but the ball was rebounded and put back in by Dundalk's Jayse Barrett with 0.5 seconds on the clock to steal the victory away from the Seahawks.
