FREDERICK - Cecil College softball took the road for the first time since its season opener, sharing a doubleheader with Region 20 foe Frederick.
The Seahawks are now 3-5 (3-3 R20) on the year.
GAME ONE - Cecil 7, Frederick 2
Gianna Dougherty struck out 11 and the Seahawks showed out on offense, leading to a victory in the opener for Cecil.
Dougherty (3-1) controlled the game from the circle, allowing just two runs on five hits. She sat Frederick down in order in all but two innings. The freshman also picked up a double and scored one run.
Six Seahawks collected one RBI each. Sloane Tanner led with two thanks to her home run in the fourth. Kylee Straining topped the Seahawks with three hits. Madison Nolan and Layla Hopkins each chipped in a hit and a stolen base.
Game Two - Frederick 12, Cecil 3
Frederick got off to a fast start and never looked back, spoiling the Seahwaks day in the closing contest.
Dougherty headlined Cecil's offensive effort with two hits, two runs, an RBI and a stolen base. Madison Nolan secured a triple for her only hit, while Tristan Canavan walked three times and picked up an RBI.
Amaia Smith (1-3) took the loss from the rubber. Natalie Cook looked strong in two innings of relief, allowing just two hits and one run.
