Fast Start was not Enough for Jayhawks in Loss to Erie CC

JAMESTOWN, NY - The Jamestown Community College (JCC) Jayhawks came out on fire on Sophomore Night but couldn't hold on to upset Erie Community College in a 111-90 loss.

Jamestown opened the game on a torrid pace, connecting on seven of 13 first-half threes.

A triple from Federico Foddai at the 10:42 mark put JCC up 28-14, and the biggest crowd of the season was on its feet for the birds. The Italian poured in 13 on the fight.

Erie quickly cut that Jamestown lead to just four at 5:44 of the first half. David Stroud did most of the damage for the Kats as JCC led 34-30 when head coach Xavier Churnac called a timeout.

The Jayhawks were able to go back up five with a layup from Foddai, but the home team only took a one-point lead into halftime.

The second half started much like the first ended, with JCC on its heels. A Joey Valerio transition bucket stopped the bleeding, but Jamestown was down nine. The Ohioan finished the game with 13.

Jamestown was able to claw back within 12 late thanks to fast-break buckets from Marcus Wynter, who led JCC with 17.

The Jayhawks couldn't get any closer as they eventually fell 111-90.

This loss moves Jamestown to 4-21 overall and 0-4 in league play.

That wraps up the home schedule for the Jayhawk men, who travel to SUNY Niagara on Saturday for a 3:00 PM tip.
