Elgin, Ill. - The Elgin Community College men's basketball team came up just short against No. 9 South Suburban on Saturday afternoon.
The Spartans move to 3-6 in their overall season.
Team leaders included Davee Flowers in points (33), rebounds (10), assists (four), steals (three) and blocks (two).
Elgin commanded the game from early on, and led by as many as 15 points in the first 10 minutes of play. South Sub tightened up the game to trail 52-45 at the end of the first half.
The Bulldogs took their first lead of the game after a two pointer six minutes into the second half.
Immanuel Brown and Flowers went on an 8-0 run to extend the Spartan lead by six with three minutes remaining in the game.
SSC went on a 17-4 run to win the game 97-90.
The Spartans are back on the road to face Joliet on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
