
Haverhill, MA (February 15, 2025) – The #8 nationally ranked Northern Essex Community College men's basketball team saw their current 21 game and 46-game home court winning streaked snapped on Monday afternoon at the hands of Bunker Hill by a 96-95 final score. The Knights fall to 23-3 overall on the season and 18-2 in conference play.
The Knights trailed early and clawed back before taking a lead at the halftime break by a 51-49 score. Bunker Hill jumped out early in the second half and took a lead by as many points 10 before NECC, climbed back again to take a lead of their own by eight.
In the closing seconds, NECC trailed by one and Joendy Rosario (Lawrence) sunk two free throws with 10 seconds remaining on the clock, before Bunker Hill was able to take the ball the distance of the court to beat the buzzer and secure the win.
Rosario finished with eight points.
For the second straight game, Javien Kirmil (Lowell) scored a game high 27 points on seven three point baskets.
Alejandro Delgado (Haverhill) and Alex Johnson (Worcester) both scored 13 points to give the Knights three scorers in double figures.
The Knights will close out the regular season with a pair of road games, starting tomorrow at Springfield Tech before heading to Quinsigamond on Saturday. NECC has secured a Region 21 quarterfinal home game on Wednesday February 26th
