North Branch, NJ - RVCC Women's Basketball team knocked off Region XIX opponent Salem CC on Saturday by a final score of 75-54. Freshman guard Ona Riopedre had a team high 27 points and was one of four starters who finished in double digit scoring. Today was Riopedre's 18th game registering double digit points and her fourth game with at least 20. The Freshman from Barcelona is second on the team with 14.7 points per game. Elizabeth May registered 12 points while Sophia Larsen and Julia Fontanillo each had 11. Fontanillo recorded a team high 7 assists and Saionni Patrick grabbed a team high 11 boards. 

The Lions got off to a slow start, only leading Salem by two after the first quarter. A steal and layup by Sophia Larsen, right before the halftime buzzer, put the Lions up 8 going into the break. The Lions used the third quarter to separate themselves from the visiting Mighty Oaks as they dominated the quarter 23-8. 

RVCC currently sits at 14-9 on the season and are 8-4 in Region XIX play. They travel to Middlesex College on Tuesday night for a 5 PM tip off against the Blue Colts.
