A solid pitching performance is just what the CF baseball team needed after giving up sixteen runs in the series opener versus Seminole State College on Thursday and that is exactly what they received in their game one 7-1 win on Saturday. Hunter Jones (1-0) started and threw four shutout innings allowing only three hits to earn the win. Jay Jung finished the last three innings on the hill allowing only one run on three hits with two strikeouts to earn the save.
Offensively the Pats were led by Logan Chapman's three RBI and Brett House's two RBI. Anthony Diaz had a triple.
In game two, a 6-2 loss, the Pats bats were quieted by the gutsy pitching of Carter Krawchuk (2-3), who went seven innings allowing six hits and two runs. Only two Pats had multiple hits as House was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBI and Tanner Swank added two singles. CF left twelve runners on base as clutch hits were hard to come by.
Kaiden Lopez's bases loaded two out double in the bottom of the fourth inning broke a 2-2 tie and gave the Raiders a 5-2 lead that they would never relinquish. One bright spot for CF was the relief pitching of Cory Geinzer who tossed four innings giving up only one hit, one unearned run and striking out five Raider batters.
CF stands at 19-6 on the season and 7-5 in the Citrus Conference, while Seminole State is 17-9 and 7-5. The Pats will be back in action at home on Tuesday when Florida State College - Jacksonville visits Goodlett Field for a 3:00 PM game.
