Trojans stop Lakers, 79-76
MASON CITY - The NIACC men's basketball team improved its overall record to 9-2 and ICCAC mark to 2-0 with a 79-76 victory over Iowa Lakes Wednesday night in the NIACC gym.
NIACC was led by sophomore guard Omarion Roberts with 28 points. The Trojans' sophomore forward Adam Hackett scored 16 points and collected seven rebounds.
NIACC led 40-29 at the half and the Trojans held on in the second half for a 3-point victory.
NIACC's Randy McClendon scored nine points, including a crucial 3-point play late in the contest.
Zion Wright led the Trojans with eight rebounds and freshman guard Cameron Reigard led the Trojans with five assists.
NIACC had a big advantage at the free-throw line in Wednesday's contest. The Trojans were 22 of 25 from the line while the Lakers were 11 of 21 from the charity strripe.
Iowa Lakes was led by guard Ashton Hermann with 19 points. Jayden Jones was next in line for the Lakers with 14 points.
NIACC returns to action Saturday in an ICCAC contest at Northeast CC in Norfolk, Neb. Game time is slated for 3 p.m.
