BAY MINETTE, Ala. – The Pearl River men's basketball team faced a tough opponent on day two of the Alabama/Mississippi Boarder Wars on Friday in Bay Minette, Ala. The Wildcats couldn't bounce back from a halftime deficit and dropped game two of the tournament to Bishop State, 78-68.
"Both teams played extremely hard; I thought we gave ourselves a chance to win it several times; we just ran out of gas," PRCC head coach Chris Oney said. "We really responded well; we have to learn and grow from it and get ready for conference play."
Pearl River (9-3 overall) could not overcome a four-point halftime deficit to Bishop State (8-3 overall). Despite a huge day by Kedrick Osby (Moss Point), who led the Wildcats with 36 points, PRCC lost to Bishop State, 78-68.
"Ked played his best game as a Wildcat; he tried to will us to victory," Oney said.
Joah Chappelle (Jonesboro, Ga.; Dutchtown) followed Osby with 15 points. Chappelle grabbed 12 rebounds, and Osby pulled down 10. Krystian Lewis (Monroe, La; Wossman) and Chappelle each led PRCC with five assists apiece.
