
POPLARVILLE, MS – The Lady Indians delivered an impressive all-around performance to secure a 59-49 victory over Coahoma Community College, improving their record to 24-5.
The Lady Indians set the tone early, jumping out to a 19-15 lead after the first quarter and never allowing Coahoma to gain control. Jestiny Dixon led the charge with 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 steals, showcasing her impact on both ends of the floor. Tootie Lockett matched her scoring output with 17 points of her own, shooting an efficient 6-of-9 from the field.
ICC extended their lead in the second quarter with a dominant 16-8 run, pushing their halftime advantage to 35-23. They maintained their consistency in the third, outscoring Coahoma 13-10 to widen the gap. The Lady Indians controlled the boards, outrebounding Coahoma 39-35 and limiting second-chance opportunities. Asia Stafford was a key presence in the paint, grabbing a season-best 8 rebounds while adding 4 points.
With the win, the Lady Indians advance to the Region 23 Championship game, where they will face Mississippi Delta, who pulled off an upset over No. 14 Pearl River. The winner will earn an automatic bid to the NJCAA National Tournament in Casper, Wyoming, later this month.
