
Santa Fe Uses Big Offensive Day to Split
South Florida State College made the road trip north to Gainesville, Florida on Saturday afternoon for a double-header.

The Saints and Panthers split the double-header as SFSC used a big sixth inning to knock off SF 7-3 in game one. South Florida jumped in front first in game one with a solo run in the top of the second inning. The Saints found two runs in the bottom of the third inning to take the lead. SFSC bounced back to tie the game at two in the fifth inning. The Saints came out swinging in the bottom half as Carlos Garcia drove in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fifth. An inning full of free passes allowed the Panthers to score five unanswered runs and take the big lead in game one.
Javier Soto and Ryan Chase both had multi-hit games in the first of two. Robert Nedry, Erik Blair, and Garcia all drove in a single run for the ball game. Macklin Miller received the start in game one going 4.2 innings allowing two runs and five hits. The Saints used five different pitchers as Chase Chappell received the loss in 0.1 innings allowing four runs. The Saints walked nine batters and hit three as a pitching staff.
In game two of the double-header, the Saints wasted no time to get on the board. A three-run first inning, an eight-run second inning, a three-run third inning, and a five-run fourth inning helped the Saints knock off SFSC 19-0 in a five-inning game.
Santa Fe totaled 13 hits, reaching base six times via the walk and twice with a hit by pitch. Wyatt Tesar led off for the Saints and went 3-4, scoring three runs and driving one in. Zack Dejesus also went 3-4 with five RBI and three runs scored, including his three-run homerun cleaning the net in left field. Dejesus leads the team in homeruns with two early this season. Maddox Lee knocked in three runs on the day going 2-2 with a walk.
Santa Fe is back in action on Monday as they travel to Tallahassee State College.
